Namiji (Pegasus Games)

In Namiji, the independent successor to Tokaido, players take on the roles of people in ancient Japan who earn their living by fishing in the southern Japanese archipelago. Their goal is to experience a journey along the Japanese coast that is as lucrative and eventful as possible. In addition to magnificent sea creatures and colorful fish, mystical elements also play a role, such as paper offerings to appease the sea spirits.

In Namiji, there is no fixed order of players. It is the turn of the person whose boat is furthest back on the sea route. Only one boat may stand on each space, and moving backward is not allowed. The spaces represent stations of the journey that trigger different immediate effects. Here, fish and crustaceans can be caught, but offerings can also be made or spectacular panoramas discovered. The port stations, on the other hand, offer time for a pleasant rest before the journey continues.

The journey into the Zen universe of Namiji lasts about an hour, during which players are transported directly to Japan thanks to 60 thematically illustrated panorama cards.
